Festivities take many paths

X-mas open

There are few holidays
celebrated in as multi-
cultural and diverse a
fashion as Christmas,
even without taking
into account those
Canadians of different
faiths.

Christmas carols from many
lands and many Gmes, memories
of going to the beach in
Australia on Christmas Day, the
blessing, of the creche, the
solemnity and joy of midnight
mass on Christmas Eve, the ever-
green tree chosen from the

. Snowy lot and dragged home to
be decorated with carefully
stored fragile ornaments or
chopped down in the forest and
carefully arrayed with real can-
dles. The examples go on and on
and ali are part of someone’s
Christmas here on the North
Shore.

us think of others beyond the
immediate circle of those we care
about.

have different occasions on
which they are reminded of their
responsibility to share what they
have with others less fortunate.

things human, a mixed blessing.
