Refugee
claimants
hear ruling
on Status

IMMIGRATION CANADA
released June 3 the decisions
regarding the fate of LO Tranian
hunger strikers. The refugee
claimants went without food
for 22 days in Vancouver from
Feb. 23 to March 6.

Jim Cowley, manager of hear-
ing and appes aly for the B.C.- Yukon
region, told the strikers” legal
counsel that seven of the strikers
have been avcepted as celuyees.
The three others were rejected.

claimants initiated the hunger
stike to draw attention to human
rights violations in Tran and to
protest the federal government's
deportation of refugees to Tran.

She said further fegal action and
comtounity lobbying are planned
on behalf of the three refugee
clitimants who were rejected.
