The event wes the third annual Pexguin Plunge and while a crowd of several hundred in toques, boots and winter coats watched from the shore and from boats just off the beach, slightly more than a score of entrants stripped to their swimming suits and headed for tae bracing waters of Indian Arm, For most of those on hand the Penguin Plunge was just that — a quick dash down the snow-covered beach, into the water up to their necks and then back out to waiting towels and coffee cups. A handfu: of those who showed up turned the event into an endurance contest, though, with one man yoing for a leisurely 200 yard m in the iey waters before returning to & es : ahs : SE so ane i the beach.
