Wrong. Leno was just as ~

smart as he was ugly. He had
started on the ships many
years ago as a bus boy and
had saved diligently. During

the. course of events, he

married a wife who could
make one lira do the work of
ten so, each time they had a
little stack, they would buy a
small shop. Mama would
mind the business and Leno
would go back to the job on
the ship.

It was a good — and
profitable arrangement —
since the wife had about as

wasting his money in some
expensive resort,
returned to the one place he
felt comfortable — the ship.

Maltese to California a few

years ago in a car. minus

airconditioning. If that poor
beast was as uncomfortable
as I was, I pity -her; We
stopped frequently . (with

four kids in the tar, you'll,

understand why!) and I gave

Maggie lots of water. I fed —

her lightly in the morning,
usually leftover- meat or
chicken from our dinner,
and gave her her dog food at

night. I think this helped her -

not to be car-sick. At least,
she survived but she was
unable to comment on how
she enjoyed the vacation.

Travelling with cats is a

whole lot different. Some

are great travellers while
others go berserk. in a car.

One of ours hates to be left —
‘home while the other two go

wild. If you should have a
cat that enjoys taking
holidays,
pack his own. sandbox. I

used a high-sided plastic.

dishpan and sealed it in a
large plastic garbage bag. In
motels, the bag protected
the rugs.
