Jamie Zagoudakis is well known in Vancouver dance and opera circles for his great panache as a performer and his distinctive and creative approach to. staging and choreography. Perhaps best known for his artistic direc- uon of PRISM Dance Com- pany and his Studio, Zagoudakis has also worked extensively with the Van- couver Opera Association as a choreographer and performer. During past summers Zagoudakis has directed the Courtenay Summer Music Festival through a wide range of musical theatre perfor- mances, including such well known operas as The Magic at the New York Metropolitan Opera. Catherine Caines has worked for several years in the well known Studio 58 Theatre Program at Van- couver Community College: Her credentials as a director include such challenging works as Creeps by David Freeman, Hossanna by Michel Tremblay and, most recently, A Day in the Death of Joe Egg by Peter Nicols. This fall Caines will also be teaching at UBC, the institu- tion from which she has her Masters Degree in Fine Arts. It was at UBC that she CATHERINE CAINES recently directed a summer theatre production of The Dining Room by Arthur Gurney Jr., which received excellent reviews. In addition to working closely with the second year Theatre students, Caines and Flute and the ever popular musical The Music Man. Recently he assisted on the long running and popular Piaf at City Stage and has just returned from four mon- ths as a guest artistic director JAMIE ZAGOUDAKIS Zagoudakis will also be help- ing to instruct first year classes. Studio and touring productions this fall will prepare students for the demands of mounting a full scale production in the spr- ing, and North Shore residents should watch for plays at Capilano’s new Theatre Studio.
