Secretaries are needed for research on stress at work PSYCHOLOGISTS AT the Uni- versity of British Columbia (UBC) would like volunteers to par- ticipate in a study on women, work, and stress. “Considering that female cleri- cal and secretarial workers ac- count for nearly one third of all working women, and the degree of stress that is typically experi- enced by them, there is surprising- ly little research done in this area,’’ says Dr. Bonita Long of the UBC Counselling Psychology Department. Participants in the study will be asked to complete one question- Naire per month over a_ three- month period. The information from these will be kept confiden- tial and anonymous, At the completion of the study, a summary of the group results will be published. The results may help give some insight into the coping skills some women use to deal with stressful situations. If you are interested in par- ticipating in this study or would like more information, call Karen piood. research assistant, at 822- 199. : Money raised for ALS NORTH SHORE residents helped raise more than $2,371 during the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Flower Days °92, held June 5 and 6.
