The solution designers and first time knitters will discover is computerized knitting, which involved using a computer to command a knitting machine to knic a particular patrern automaticaliy. The big advantage is that people can put their design into the computer by mouse or scanner. This means that people can knit the designs that are drawn on computers, or knit designs that are scanned from other creative sources. Another advantage is that people can see what the sweater will look like on the computer screen before any efforc is invested in the actual knitting process. People can manipulate the design by flipping it, rotating it, or changing its size. The computer will show whar the design looks like in a variety of repeats. When the desired leat, is achieved the data is fed into the knitting machine, and it will automatically product the creation. The concept is so new that dealers just started seeing sneak previews of ic at Passap Knitting this month. The machine can arrange four colours in a row, is capable of 40,000 stitch designs, and can enlarge a design 99 times both in height and width. There's mirror imaging and built-in shaping. It even has a program for dropped shoulders. What's surprising is that people don't have to keep the computer and che knitting machine in the same room. The Passap E6000 console has a memory, so the console may be carried over to rhe computer, loaded with the design dara, and then taken back to the knitting machine. The design can be stored in the computer's memory and used repeatediy.
