The following is a sample of the many volunteer op- portunities available through North Shere Community Services. FIRST AID person over 20 years is needed to work with Cadets between the ages of eight and 20 years. Volunteer will help supervise and administer the cadets’ first aid activities to the public, i.e. concerts, sports events, where ambulance assistance is re- quired. First Aid training provided for a $60 fee. One hour per week for evening meetings, plus events. ACTIVE cheerful person with initiative is wanted to assist with a mail-out in Sept. and two workshops on Oct. 13 and 20. The workshops will be on practical advice to family caregivers. Flexi- ble hours. NEWSLETTER assistant is needed to write, edit and pro- ofread a monthly newsletter for a seniors lodge. Ideally the volun- teer will find suitable newsletter material, interview residents and encourage residents to participate. Flexible hours, during the day. PATIENT, caring instructors’ assistants who enjoy working with the mentally handicapped are needed to help with a Holiday Adventures course. A potter to teach either handbuilding or wheel techniques is wanted on Tuesdays from [| to 3 p.m. A weight loss instructor to lead a support group for seniors and assist with weigh-in, discussions and nutrition information is need- ed on Tuesdays from | to 3 p.m. and Fridays, 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. There is an opportuni- ty for you to hold a workshop and teach others your skilis and hobbies. If you have a talent in cooking, crafts or any other area you would like to share with ac- tive seniors cafl toaay. Hours are two or more per day, Fridays preferred.
