N. Van firm introduces
new cycle safety device

A NORTH Vancouver company has introduced to the local
bicycling market a new reflective safety device to help make

bicycles visible to motorists in poor lighting conditions.

Bike Alert is distributing ¢ pro-
duct from the Netherlands culled
Wielite. The product is a full circle
of reflective material which is
woven between the spokes of both
bike wheels.

The reflective material is con-
tained within polyethylene strips.
The idea of enhanced safety reflec-
tors has drawn support from Solic-
itor General Angus Ree and local
police.

JACK NICKLAUS has been nam-
ed as the designer of the Green
‘Lakes Golf Course proposed for
the Whistler area.

Pending municipal approval, the
course is planned to be located 2.5
kilometres north of the town cen-
tre. The first phase of the devel-
opment will see 18 holes go in. A
further nine or 18 holes may be
developed later on.

The Green Lakes course would
become the second Nicklaus-
designed course in the country and
the first for the Pacific Northwest.

Construction of the 245-acre
golf course and facilities is
estimated to cost $8 million. Sub-
ject to approval, the golf course
could be completed by the fail of
