Regarding your published leiter
of March 27 that’ Amnesty Inter-
national claims ‘children are '‘tor-
tured’ in South Africa,'’ many
people would be more likely to ac-
cept.and believe Amnesly Interna-
tional’s claims if it was not so
biased and slanted in~ its’ often

claims.

Adults, teenagers and children,
too, are arrested in South Africa
when they throw stones,-ocks and
gasoline bombs (Molotov
cocktails), all of which’ can, and
often do, kill and maim, ‘innocent
people. Kept in a cel} may be tor-
ture to such a tecnager or. child,

and this becomes Amnesty, Inter-
national’s claim of “torture.””

Amnesty International has not,
in my wide reading, ever con-

demned the outlawed ; terrorist-”
