The dinner honoring the cham- pions of 1986 will be held in the final week of the racing season rather than late in April next year as has been the custom in the past. From this season on, the Sovereign Awards will be pres- ented in early December at the close of the Canadian racing season. The 1986 awards dinner will be held in Toronto at the Constetla- tion Hotel on Dec. 12. For the first time ever, winners of the Sovereign Awards in most categories including that for Horse of the Year will not be announced until the results of the national voting are revealed at the awards dinner. . The list of those involved in voting for Sovereign Award win- ners is being enlarged to include over 70, In the future, the national list of voters will be asked to select not only the divisional champions in each age and sex bracket including Horse of the Year, but a number of other award winners as well. ‘The voters will determine the Outstanding Owner and Trainer, the Outstanding Apprentice Jockey, Outstanding Jockey, Breeder of the Year and the Outstanding Broodmare of the Year. Sweep six swept away THE DAILY Double is back at the Exhibition Park Racetrack...the Sweep Six is gone. The B.C. Jockey Club recently announced two major changes to its wagering program. As of July 30, the Sweep Six was dropped and the Daily Double returned on races one and two. The Win Three moves to races four, five and six. There will be Quinella wagering on races one and five and Exactor wagering on races two, three, four, six, seven and eight. The Triactor 1emains on the ninth race. The changes come as the result of an extensive survey conducted by the track among its patrons. ‘‘We're simply going back to the basics by popular demand"’, said B.C. Jockey Club general manager Merv Peters. ‘‘In a canvass of our regular patrons, they were over- whelmingly in favor of the Daily Double. The Sweep Six was last in preference by most.”’ Post parade at the track is on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 6:15 p.m. First post parade on Saturday and Sunday is 12:45 p.m. WATCH YOUR DIET For information on how the YMCAcan improve your lifestyle call: i pera acl 661-0221 10K GOLD MEDICAL BRACELETS ‘D0. 205 10K GOLD MEDICAL PENDANTS 14K GOLD : ANNIVERSARY RING $299 9 sparkling diamonds channel! set in eternity style 9. 20 carat mee ‘ota WEDDING: HANDS Diamond-cut, high polish, nugget finish, wide or narrow, with or without diamonds — ee COUPON Free 10K gold floating heart or cross with purchase of $35.00 or more. 40K GOLD MEN'S DIAMOND SOLITAIRE RING (many styles) 9-STONE DIAMOND RING 0.10 carat wt. 0. a7 at wt total 51905375" ou deserve some welcome pleasure and it's orily 90 minutes away at Whistler Resort.
