A motion to do this at a Ci- ty policy meeting next January was unanimously carried Monday. In keeping with the provin- cial government’s restraint program, the centre, which offers ‘‘a range of social ser- vices, recreational and health programs’’, was notified that their community grant of $114,000 would be ait on March 29, 1984. The motion, put forward by Ald. Ralph Hall, followed a letter put before council from the United Way of the Lower Mainland requesting joint City and District fun- ding for the facility. The motion also suggested that the Ministry of Human Resources consider continu- ing funding the Silver Harbor Centre until the end of 1984, so that the City of North Vancouver _has sufficient tributed a sum of money. He said it was then understood that the municipality was not to be involved in the ‘‘day- to -day”” cost of the centre. **We should not take this over too easily, or we will have to cut something else out of our budget,’’ said Raymond. Bur Ald. Hall said that **five or six years ago’’ the re- cent provincial budget cuts couldn’t have been an- ticipated. ‘“We can’t walk away from this,”” he said.
