their 1960 - Citronetta (a
model. assembled ‘only ‘in
Chile were it is the national

world. When they set out in
September, 1971, their car
had covered some 125,000
miles already, and their total
assets were a mere $350. By
the time they had reached
Paris, the little -Citronétta
had covered a further 40,000
miles, and had even visited
Vancouver. ,

travellers. Another couple
who spént some time in
Vancouver liked it so much,
they may even come back

‘here to live.

' Besides individual | _ad-
ventures, we have the
collective runs: Paris-Kabul
in 1970: with 1,300 young
men and women, 500 2CV’s
did over 10,000 to
Afganistan and back. In
1971: Paris-Persepolis, again
500 2CV’s. In 1973: 60 2CV’s
from Abidjan to Tunis, on a
route crossing the as yet not
signposted Tenere, then still
“out of bounds” .to normal
cars. .

There was also the famous
tour of Latin America in
1977, some 20,000 miles ona
round trip of Latin America:
50 cars started and finished
in Buenos Aires.

After travel, sport. Here is
a field in which the 2CV
gnawed its tire treads, raring
to go! It had of course taken
part in rallies. It has also
finished the Mille Miglia,
which was quite a feat, but
not with much keenness.
This was because of distance
(too short) and its type of
ground (too easy).

In 1972, at Argenton-sur->
Creuse, it finally found its
formula: the “2CV Cross”,
an acrobatic cross country
race in which brake-wear is
minimal. Copverts to this
crazy “Cross’’ now number
more than a thousand in
Europe.
