Net aids business community

A recently conducted survey of

Internet use by members of the

North Vancouver business com-
munity shows a pervasive online
presence.

The North Vancouver Chamber of

Commerce e-business task force conducted
a survey on membership involvement in e-
commerce in March.

According to chamber president Judi
Ainsworth the task force received approxi-
mately 80 responses to the survey.

Among the results:
® 68 respondents use the Internet to com-
miunicate;

E559 respondents use the Internet to gath-
er information;
@ 37 respondents use the Internet to mar-
ket goods and services;
@ 31 respondents use the Internet to pur-
chase goods and services,
@ 27 respondents use the Internet to sell
goods and services.
Regarding presence on the Internet:

@ 60 of the respondents said they have
business e-mail addresses, 49 said they have
personal e-mail addresses;
BB 48 of the respondents said they have

ess domain names, 10 said they have
personal domain names;
@ 40 of the respondents said they have a

business directory listing on someone else's
Veb site, three said they have personal
directory listings on another Web site;
@ nine of the respondents said they have a
single business Web page, three said they
have a single personal Web page;
B 42 of the respondents said they have a
business Web site, two said they have a per-
sonal Web site;
nine of the respondents said they have e-
commerce sit
Fourteen respondents identified them-
selves as being active in the retail sector; 55
represented the service sector, five repre-
sented the manufacturing sector.
