my. It can even be considered a
viable alternutive to a V6 engine
because it has as much horsepower
as many competitors’ V6s, but bet-
ter fuel economy. However, it is
noisier during acceleration and not
as refined as a V6 engine.

Like the Cirrus and Stratus, the
Breeze offers surprisingly flat, sta-
ble handling, quick steering, and
excellent outward visibility to the
front and sides. However, the high
rear deck limits rear visibility in
some cases, such as when backing
up.

As I mentioned, the Breeze is
roomier than most compact cars
and even some mid-sized cars. The
interior is sensibly and attractively-
designed without being ‘over-
styled’. The trunk is very roomy
with almost 16 cubic feet (.5 cubic
metres) of storage space plus a

door guard beams, height-
adjustable front shoulder belts and
child-protection rear door locks.
An integral rear child's seat is
available as an option. Adjustable
rear head restraints are not avail-
able.

Available options include anti-
lock brakes, sunroof, power win-
dows, door locks and mirrors, key-
less entry with a panic alarm, and
upgraded stereo systems.

The Breeze is in the same class
as compact cars like the Ford
Contour, Pontiac Grand Am,
Honda Accord, and Nissan Altima,
however its roomy interior almust
sends it up to the mid-sized class.

Certainly, the Breeze is a big
step up from the Acclaim though it
is more expensive because of its

higher level of standard equipment,

a trend which is becoming more
common with family cars.
