EAGLE HARBOUR WY yacht club applies for additional waterlot EAGLE HARBOUR Yacht Club is trying to legalize boat moorage outside the boxndaries of its West Vancouver waterlot. To that end, the ciub is applying for an additional wateriot cf 1.557 acres, The situation has existed since the early 1950s, when the West Vancouver Parks and Recreation Commission permitted the club to accommodate expanding member- ship by placing 15 vessels outside of the current wateriot. The move was also made to help deter water skiers from recreating within Eagle Harbor. A verbal agreement was made at that time 2 is not beieg con- tested on either side, but discus- sions to legalize the situation have been ongoing since 1984, when the District of West Vancouver ac- quized the foreshore headlease from the provincial government. Approval has already been granted from the Canadian Ccast Guard and the Minisiry of Crown Lands. The club’s application is ex- pected to come before West Van- couver District Council in late September or early October, with public input requested before Aug. 31. “We want to make sure that everyone is ucotified ahead of time,’’ Mayor Don Lanskail com- mented at the July 24 councii meeting. West Vancouver-Howe Sound MLA John Reynolds will be pres- enting a facsimile machine to the Whistler Chamber of Commerce in the next few weeks as part of an InfoNetwork enhancement pro- gram announced carlier by the Network Council and Bill Reid, Minister of Tourism and Provin- Reynolds said the machines will allow rapid exchange of informa- tion between West Vancouver, Whistler and any of the 147 other Travel Infocentres on the system, inluding network headquarters at the Ministry of Tourism and Pro- vincial Secretary in Victoria. The Infocentres aise receive up to $3,000 for capital improvements to theirs centres with special ser- vices being provided for the dis- abled visitors. “*The essence of a tourist infor- maticn service is that it is reliable and timely,’’ said Reynolds. “Once these systems are in place visitors to West Vancouver-Howe Sound wiil get the most current in- formation available.
