Up to 200 paintings, drawings and other works are wanted for this showcase of original art by persons aged 19 and under. “Young artists from every cor- ner of British Columbia have an opportunity to be recognized foi their creative self-expression,”’ said Graeme Chalmers, chairman of the BCYA °87 provincial advisory committee. ‘‘We hope families and teachers will encourage them to submit their work for adjudication Anniversary celebrated INCLUDED IN celebrations for the Greater Vancouver Regional District’s 20th anniversary will be the annual North Shore Coho Walk. Scheduled for Sept. 13, the Coho Walk takes place at Capilano River Regional Park and will incorporate a nature walk along the banks of the Capilano River from its mouth to the Cleve- land Dam. Other anniversary events include the June 7 opening of White Pine Beach at Belcarra Park and the May 10 opening of the Tynehead Hatchery in Tynehead Regional Park. and possible exhibition.”” Chosen work will be seen at the Vancouver Art Gallery beginning Sept. 13, Kelowna Art Gallery from Nov. 10, and some 20 other locations in B.C., Washington State and the Yukon through 1988. More than 20,000 people are ex- pected to view the exhibition. Its - predecessor, BCYA ’85, is now be- ing exhibited in Adelaide, Australia and in May will move to a permanent home at the Interna- tion Museum of Children’s Art in Oslo, Norway. BCYA is intended to encourage young people as well as com- munities at large to participate in artistic endeavors. It is funded by the Annual Endeavor Auction, B.C. Tel, Chevron Canada Limited, Cornwall Publishing Co. Ltd., Friends of Emily Carr Col- lege of Art and Design Society, the Hamber Foundation, the Leon and Thea Koerner Foundation and Pacific Western Airlines.
