Hope’’ brings to the mentally
il! in our community. Many
patients are isolated from
their families; so the gift they
receive at the Canadian Men-
tal Health Association’s an-
nual party is very important

to them.

Almost any new item will
be welcome, but women
especially appreciate
toiletries, cosmetic bags,
jewelry, posters, scarves and
tote bags. Men like cards,
games, wallets, gloves,
clothing, even underwear.

Outpatients often need um-
brellas, alarm clocks and slip-
pers. Everyone enjoys gifts
that can be shared: nuts, can-
dy, tinned cookies,
cigarettes.

Staff make an effort to
match the gifts to the in-
dividuals; so gifts should be
