A STEP UP FOR WV THOUSANDS OF readess of The Vancouver - Step magazine and Vancouver Magazine will either be introduced or re-introduced to West Vancouver’s Ambleside and Dundarave areas in upcoming issues of the two publications. The Vancouver Step will feature the Ambleside and Dundarave LUBE, OIL & BUSINESS BRIEFS areas in its August and July issue in a major advertorial spread. A spokesman for ithe Ambleside Merchants’ Organization (AMO) said The Vancouver Step maga- zine profile of the two areas will result, in a boost for local businesses since the magazine has over 28,000 readers. The magazine has already done advertorial features on the Gastown, Robson Street and Granville {sland areas and it is delivered directly to businesses and hotels. “If we are to get the buying public to be aware of West Van- couver, we have to look towards the other side of the bridge. The other direct benefit we see from this promotion is its tie-in with the Harmony Arts Festival in Ambleside and Dundarave in August,’’ said an AMO spokesman. He added that plans are also in the works to do « similar adver- torial with Vancouver Magazine. Wednesday, July 1, 1992 - North Shore News — 42 RIEFS BUSINESS SURVEY TO GET an insight on the opera- tions of local businesses, the Ambleside Merchants’ Organiza- tion (AMO) has started distributing its Ambleside Business Study. Rob Harrington, AMO chair- man, said the purpose of the businesses survey is to better func- tion as en organization through the use of factual information and to use that information to pro- mote and support the Ambleside business district. “The whole idea of a merchant organization is to allow the mer- chants a strong foundation to work for betterment of their area and, in doing so, their own businesses,” said Harrington. “If we clearly know how many businesses are in the area, what services they provide, we will be far stronger in our lobbying for resources, bylaws, services.”" The District of West Vancouver and the West Vancouver Chamber of Commerce will each be provid- ed with a copy of the survey results, but the data of the study will not be sold or given away without the expressed permission of the participating businesses. The survey questions touch on the areas of advertising, economic conditions, target market areas and the future development of the Ambleside business district. “The strength of the AMO has grown every month with the new promoticns we develop, the festi- vals we promote and the area issues we get involved in ... we see this study as another tool that the merchants .need to get this area functioning as it should,” said Harrington. The AMO ‘vas created one year ago with 16 merchant members. Today its membership numbers 140.
