parade will all be part of
Saturday’s West Vancouver
Community Day.

Memory Lane is the theine of
this year’s annual community day
celebration. The community day
parade is scheduled to start at
10:45 a.m. at Marine Drive and
13th Street. .

Crafts, community displays,
children and teen entertainment
and refreshments will follow the
parade at the West Vancouver

recreation centre at Marine Drive
and 22nd Street.

The honorary parade marshall
will be former West Vancouver
District. municipal clerk Rupert
Harrison.

Harrison started working at the
municipal hall in 1938 and has
served 13 mayors, 44 councillors
and helped with the passage of
2,047 bylaws during his career.

Other events during the day in-
clude:

@ concerts at the West Vancouver
Seniors’ Centre plaza;

@ basketball, volleybal! and ten-
nis matches from teams _ repre-

senting the three West Vancouver
high schools;

@ achildren’s carnival;

® puppet shows and face paint-
ing;

@ the West
dunk tank;
@ and the Capilano Sportsmen's
Club Junior Fishing Derby to be
held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at
Ambleside pier.

A host of food and drink items
will also be available, including a
salmon barbecue, hamburgers,
hotdogs, international cuisine,
bratwurst, popcorn, a pancake
breakfast and a beer garden.

English Language Training (ELT)
classes for new Canadians during
the month of July.

The classes wilt be held at the
Lucas Centre, 2132 Hamilton

on Monday, July 6 and will run
