NORTH VANCOUVER District Council is reconsid-
ering the 1995 phase-out of illegal secondary suites one
year after a Housing Strategy Task Ferce recommended
regulating secondary suites in owner-occupied homes.
Council will consider extending the phase-out deadline
of registered secondary suites by five years in an in-

News. Last year, the housing task force submitted a
report to council which included a recommendation that
owner-occupied homes with secondary suites be regu-
lated so that existing rental kousing could be retained in
the area. Council hasn’t acted on the report. Permanent
recognition of the suites requires zoning changes.
