School car rally
helps Food Bank

A WEST Vancouver Grade 12
student has come up with a novel
way to collect food for the Food
Bank — make collecting canned
goods part of a school car rally.

Ten cans of food per car must
be collected as part of the rally, set
to go March 12, featuring cash and
consolation prizes and a post-rally
party.

Open to high school or post-
secondary students, the rally is not
a race, but a competition to see
who can amass the most points by
collecting an assortment of any of
the estimated 120 items, said rally
organizer Dave Wolftenholme, 18.

points to 250 points, the items are
rated according to the difficulty in

ticipants can join the Deep Cove
via Horseshoe Bay Inter-School
Car Rally, so drivers and passen-
gers should sign up soon.

For post-rally festivities, orga-
nizers have rented a downtown
club for the evening, and partici-
pants will be able to compare rally
techniques there. :
