Local robbed in Mexico

IT’S A vacation story that Dr. Andrew Hamson of
West Vancouver would have preferred not to have
happened.

During a one-week trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico,
Hamson and his wife were robbed at gunpoint of $200
in travellers’ cheques and jewelry — including their
wedding bands.

Hamson, his wife and two-year-old child had taken
a taxi 10 miles out of Puerto Vallarta April 2 when
three thieves stopped the vehicle and demanded their

Hamson had a gun pointed at his head.

“LT tried to keep very calm because they were ner-
vous and | didn’t want to spook them,"’ said Hamson.

Hamson said he wanted to warn other vacationers
about the robbery so that they leave their jewelry at
home and they stay on the main roads of Mexico.

Hamson reported the crime to the local Mexican
authorities, but he has not been notified of any ar-
rests.
