stage, Sarah Slipper, a dark-eyed child of 10, was
carried away on a life-long adventure with dance.

‘From that day on I knew
I wanted to dance,”’ Slipper
says. “I never looked back.’’

At age 25 this West ‘an-
couver woman has sacrificed
her life to dance and come
out on top as a soloist with
Canada’s Royal Winnipeg
Ballet.

Slipper left home at 15 to
study ballet in England, and
after six years with the Win-
nipeg Ballet, she returned to
West Vancouver (as she has
many times before) last week

nipeg Ballet's performance
of Neumeier’s Nutcracker,
playing at the Queen
Elizabeth Theatre Dee. 17
through 22,

Carrying her tall and
slender figure with grace and
elegance, Slipper appeared a
fish out of water as she sat
aside the small wishing pond
in Park Royal.

Even as a child engulfed in
Anna Wyman's dance
school, she must have felt
misplaced.
