AFTER SEEING Swan Lake live on the British stage, Sarah Slipper, a dark-eyed child of 10, was carried away on a life-long adventure with dance. ‘From that day on I knew I wanted to dance,”’ Slipper says. “I never looked back.’’ At age 25 this West ‘an- couver woman has sacrificed her life to dance and come out on top as a soloist with Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet. Slipper left home at 15 to study ballet in England, and after six years with the Win- nipeg Ballet, she returned to West Vancouver (as she has many times before) last week (o promote the Royal Win- nipeg Ballet's performance of Neumeier’s Nutcracker, playing at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre Dee. 17 through 22, Carrying her tall and slender figure with grace and elegance, Slipper appeared a fish out of water as she sat aside the small wishing pond in Park Royal.
