A7 - Friday, April 27, 1984 - North Shore News GB rail tooo ~~ | SRR EES Take heed, Western Comfort founder Pro Choice Dear Editor How significant that, in his recent letter to the editor, a ‘‘Pro-Life’’ advocate states that even if a majority of North Shore residents reject their anti-abortionist stance they must work harder. | hope that your Pro-Choice readers wil take heed! The anti-choice groups are always Organized, well-funded and active in their campaign to abolish all abortions at L.G.H., no matter what the circumstances. Their narrow- minded, single-issue protests have no regard for the behefs or rights of those who would choose differently than them- selves. We live in a democratic society Of varying relhgions and moral beliefs. | know that the majorty of North Shore residents are Pro- Choice but they are not aware that they must actively defend their rights before this very vocal minority eradicates them. Those of us who advocate choice on abortion may not all believe in abortion as a moral choice for ourselves, but we all defend the mght of a woman to choose what is morally mght for herself. We are concerned that if the right to a medically safe hospital abortion is not available at L.G.H., there will be many desperate women in our com- munity who wil still make that choice — a backroom, medically unsafe and very dangerous procedure! 1 plead with your readers not to let this happen. If you care, please act now, become a member of the Hospital Society and vote at their A.G.M. for a board of direc- tors who will support choice. Donations of time or funds to defend choice can be made by contacting the’ North Shore Assn. for Choice on Abortion, c/o North Shore Women's Centre, North Bldg., 600 W. Queens Road, North Vancouver 988-7115 or 980-6908. The majority must act now! Dianne M.
