AARS ALL OVER THE NORTH SHORE

For several years BCAA
has operated the Approved
Auto Repair Service on the
North Shore and in the rest
of B.C. with resounding
success.

AARS was set up to help
BCAA members select a
trustworthy garage which
would perform guaranteed
service at fair prices and
would agree to arbitration by
BCAA if the repairs failed or
the cost appeared excessive.

Similar to the well-known
CAA/AAA approved
identification program for
hotels and motels, the AARS
sign indicates that “you can
trust these people”.

BCAA members requiring
auto repairs can look in the
Approved Auto Repair
Service pamphlet provided
by the auto club for a garage
that meets their needs.

To obtain the coveted
designation of a BCAA-
approved repair shop. a
garage must meet strict
minimum standards set by
the club. Facilities and
equipment are carefully
inspected and the
mechanics’ qualifications are
verified. In addition, some
of the garage’'s customers are
asked for their opinions on
workmanship and _ pricing

handle.

On the BCAA-approved
sign is a drawing of a blue
spanner bearing the garage’s
rating number. Garages are
rated on ten different
categories of mechanical
expertise, and this number
on the spanner indicates the
scope of services available.

The rating numbers DO
NOT reflect the quality of
work performed, as all work
is guaranteed by the garages.

A “I” rating indicates the
garage has basic service
facilities and is equipped to
carry out repairs in at least
four of the’ categories
requied by BCAA.

A “2” rating tells members
that the garage 1s equipped
with medium service
facilities and can service at
least six of the categories.

Garages with a “3” rating
have facilities and expertise
in at least eight of the
categones.

A fourth type of rating
identifies specialists in a
specific category such as
automatic transmissions,
brakes or body work. In this
case, the spanner is replaced

with wording identifying the
specialty.

All garages are rechecked
from time to time to make
sure they adhere to the rigid
approval requirements.

So, when a BCAA
member needs car repairs
and doesn't know of a good
garage, he or she can select
with confidence one of the
AARS_ garages recom-
mended by BCAA as being
qualified to make the
repairs.

You can trust an AARS
garage; they guarantee their
service.
