(UPI) - Its bad enough to have to duck hailstones during a violent storm without also having to watch for a falling frozen hamburger. But it occurred once - allegedly - in 1957 in Syracruse, N.Y. The Los Angeles Times dutifully carried the story and soon it will appear again in a massive 1,160-page volume entitled “A Geo- Bibliography of Anomalies: Primary Access to Ob- servations of UFO’s, Ghosts and Other Mysterious Phenomena.” The book is the result of a decade of work by University of Kansas librarian George Eberhart who has compiled a list of 22,100 such anomalies -- “events, behavior, con- ditions or discoveries that do not conform to prevailing world views” - from 10,500 localities in the United States, Canada and Greenland. It supplies brief titles for the. events, date, locatién and who observed each - if that information can be determined - and the book, journal or newspaper ac- count where they were first documented. “I have a healthy skep- ticism for it all,” said Eberhart. “But in all these reports people are either absolutely crazy, or else there is something out there we dont know anything about.” Reports of birds, brooms, fishbowls, graves and refrigerators that have allegedly exploded are in- dexed, as are a_ glowing tombstone, a pink squirrel, a self-replenishing | barrel, web-footed horses and Showdown at the Greater Morning Star Baptist Church MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. (UPI) - All five police of- ficers on duty and several sheriff's deputies were needed to quell a melee among parishoners attending Sunday service at the Greater Morning Star Baptist Church. The free-for-all was caused by a split in the congregation over who should be the pastor of the church. About half the worshippers are loyal to the Rev. Nathaniel Calhoun; the others prefer the Rev. Clarenton Bullock. Calhoun and Bullock each took a microphone in the front of the church Sunday and tried to conduct simultaneous services. Calhoun led his ‘wor- shippers in reading one Psalm, while Bullock's followers read another aloud. “I was glad when they said unto me, let us go into the house of the lord,” Calhoun’s followers shouted from one side of the church. “It is a good thing to show forth thy loving kindness in the morning.” Bullock's side countered. At the height of the disturbance, police said 30 persons were fighting. No serious injuries were reported. No arrests were made. Sgt* B.A. Campau said police have been “ordered not to arrest anyone if at all possible, because the (Macomb County Circuit) court has said it has no jurisdiction in what is basically a church matter, which really puts us on the firing line.” The feud began last December after a number of members questioned the method by which Calhoun was elected Pastor. The opposition claims more than 60 absentee votes for Calhoun were cast by unqualified and inactive members in a Dec. 7 election. On Feb. {, members voted 66-8 to rescind Calhoun's election. But Calhoun said mem- bers loyal to him voted to suspend the rules of the church last Sunday, elected him pastor by voice vote and 4 piece set Super special Chairs *15.°° each Table *19."
