Canada’s exports drop sharply OTTAWA (UPC) - A significant decline in sales of automobiles, aircraft equipment, lumber and chemicals caused Canada's exports to other nations to tumbie in Apnil by 3.1 per cent, Statistics Canada announced Friday. Exports dropped by about $200 million to $6.16 billion while im- ports increased by 8 per cent in April, the federal agency reported. As a result the mer- chandise trade balance was reduced to a deficity of $7? milhon in Apmil, from a surplus of $649 mulion from the previous month.
