GRACE Harrison, wife of
Rotary Club of West
Vancouver's charter president
Rupert Harrison, was recent-
ly presented with a Paul
Harris award by the district
governor of Rotary District
5040.

- Rupert Harrison was born
in Glasgow, Scotland on
August 21, 1914.

He arrived in West
Vancouver in November of
that vear and has lived here
ever since.

He began to work for the
municipality of West
Vancouver in 1938 and was
appointed municipal clerk in
1943.

He worked in that posi-
tion for 36 years. In 1980 he
was appointed the municipal
archivist and he continues to
hold that position.

Grace Harrison, — the
grandniece of John Lawson,
married Rupert on August
26, 1939.

Her support of his Rotary
endeavors has never faltered.

He has a perfect arten-

dance record (once a week)
for the past 44 years, and the'
couple have ‘been called ’
“mainstays of the communi-
ty.”
“ The Paul Harris award,
named after the Rotary
Club’s founder, is given to
honor those in the club who
have shown they have the
spirit of “Service ‘above Selt”
and sign hat the club, or
an individual, has given
$1,000 US to the Rorary
Foundation for its werld-
wide programs.

District 5040 of Rotary is
comprised of 46 clubs in
roughly ewo thirds of British
Columbia and Point Roberts,
Washington.
