New exhibit opens in NV

JAMELIE HASSAN’S art is
global in reference,
autobiographical in impulse, yet
reaching beyond the specific to a
fundamental inquiry about the re-
cuperation of cultural identity.

A selection of the London, On-
tario-born artist’s works make up
a new show, Two Women in One,
at Presentation House Gallery
beginning Thursday.

photography, Hassan has dealt
passionately with questions of co-
lonialism, patriarchy, militarism,
autobiography, censorship, sex-
uality and cultural identity.

Children, Satanic Verses, which
compares Hassan’s response to
