THE WAR Anpps is sending along
a@ new message with its return ad-
dress labels. The message, From
Generation To Gereration, tells of
the 68-year-old charity’s unique
bond with child umpurecs and how
it has grown with - = new
challenges these child’. have
placed before it.

The association has initiated
more than a dozen new programs
over the last 10 years, many of
them for chiluren. Programs such
as the Child Amputee (CHAMP)
program, which provides financial
and emotional support to am-
putees and Playsafe, which offers
accident prevention films and lit-
erature, are leading examples.
Matching Mothers, another in-
novative program, is dedicated to
bringing together families with
amputee children for support and
encouragement. And the list goes
on.

Included with the return address
labels is more information on these
and other programs. But no one
can better illustrate what The War
Amps is all about than a child who
is benefitting from the generation
to generation experience.

Giant candy cane
on display at Quay

JOIN SANTA for breakfast at Lonsdale Quay on Saturday, Dec. 3 and

see the giant candy cane made by Old World Fudge.
The Lonsdale Quay Market fudge store has produced a giant candy

cane for children attending the event. Over seven feet in length and six

inches in diameter, the candy cane weighs over 30 pounds. The ingre-

dients are fairly simple — sugar, corn syrup and oil of peppermint — but

the making of the candy cane was something else. It took three people to

pull and roll the cane and more help to wrap it in cello.
The cane will be on display at the breakfast and will then be donated

by the market to Lions Gate Hospital. The hospital will display it in the

main lobby until Christmas when it will be broken up, with pieces going

to all hospital patients. er
Tickets for the Santa Claus breakfast are available at $4.99 each from

the market information desk in the rotunda. Photos with Santa are $3.99

each. Space is limited on a first come, first served basis.
