THE NEWS has scored big again, scooping up awards for photograpy, advertising promotion and the news paper as a whole in the an- nual B.C. Yukon Communi- ty Newspaper Association awards. News photographers Terry PETER SPECK ... publisher Peters and Stuart Davis shared four awards. Peter won the feature photo com- petition for his picture of Trudeau, Bennett and the Queen, and finished second in the spot news category for a photograph of illegal fishing. Davis finished third BOB GRAHAM AND TIM FRANCIS ... best advertising promotion in spot news for a tug of war shot and second for best sports photo for a rugby photograph. The best advertising pro- motion award was for the News’ series of special sec- tions, highlighted by the Van- couver Whitecaps pre-season NEWS SCOOPS AWARDS supplement. In over-all competition for tabloid newspapers with a circulation of more than 4,000, the News was named second best in the province.
