CONSTRUCTION of Indian River Drive through a cost- sharing agreement with the one private owner involved got the go-ahead for its first phase last week from North Vancouver district council. A bylaw which had been prepared to proceed, using a development cost charge approach, will be brought back to council this week and defeated so that the cost-shanng bylaw can be introduced. Alderman Marilyn Baker said she was worried that the developer, after par- licipating with the District in the cost of laying out sewer and sanitary services to the northerly portion of the Indian River area, would not be able to proceed with the building of homes because of a restrictive covenant on land development in_ the Seymour area. The covenant states that house construction be prohibited until a decision has been made on_ the Study out soon DEEP COVE residents will have to wait until January 25 to find out what a special) consultant thinks should be done to their area. That's the new date for release of the proposed Deep Cove plan, North Vancouver District Alderman Peter Powell told council recently. The report was supposed to be out December 31, but the Deep Cove Steering Committee is still analyzing results of a questionnaire sent to homes in the Cove, and found it difficult to get secretarial and clerical help during the Christmas season, Powell said. “I hope you'd rather have a good report than a quick one,” he said. Response to the questionnaire has been about 40 per cent, which is very high, said Powell. The committee was set up and the consultant hired BUSINESS after a stormy public meeting in the Spring about the lack of a community plan for the Cove. The committee includes members of the Deep Cove - Dollarton Community Association and Powell and Mayor Don Bell from District council. construction of the new Seymour bridge. She had asked Mayor Don Bell at the previous week's meeting if the provincial government had as yet made the actual financial commitment for such a crossing. Reporting back at this week's meeting, Bell said he had spoken to MLA Jack Davis about the provincial government's 1982 budget. Beli said he had been told that figures for the design and engineering appear in the budget, but not for construction, though these could be brought forth in further budget deliberations in Apni. Bell told council he would keep in contact with Vic- toria about progress in constructing the new Seymour crossing. Bell told Aldermen Ernie Crist he had attended a meeting at which other residents expressed fear that, if the project didn't go ahead now, the amount would increase in the future because of inflation. The two new members appointed Monday to expand the board were Peter Smith, 1574 Lookout Point, and Norm Woodard, 322 E. Queens.
