In 1868 the original Nova
Scotia Carriage Company
was formed in Kentville to
manufacture horse-drawn
vehicles: After 1900. the
advent of the automobile,
for general use, affected the
sales of horse-drawn vehicles
and the business was in a
state of decline. .

In 1908 the -McKay
brothers, Jack and Dan,
rented the carriage factory
to build automobiles, but
production did not start until
late in 1910.

March 17 to {9 at Volvo's
District Office in: Van-
couver, B.C., in the semi-
final round of a 14-month
test of their technical ability.

There -are three focal
Volvo technicians who will
be representing the North
Vancouver area. They are J.
Dailly, G. Weber and D.L.
Morgan of Specialty Motors.

The two-part, four-hour
exam consists of 50 written
questions and four hands-on
performance tests covering
the diagnosis and repair of
Volvo systems and com-
ponents.
