-BRIGHT LIGHTS-—— NV students host First Nations at potlatch KEITH Lynn Afteraative Seconmary School in Vancouver celebrated a very special event last week. Students, sild-care workers and community members came out to celebrate the establishment of the school’s tradivonal First Nattoa’s longhouse. The potiatch celebration, was held as stu- dents completed their unit: studies of the Passages program. Members from both the Squamish and ‘Tseil-Waututh nations were present to offer blessings and pravers. A traditional teast, danang, music and fun. The longhouse, which is a replica of the Salish longhouse, is a place of peace, healing, spirituality and, now as part of the school, a place of learning.
