Brown and co-driver fan Wood, of Vancouver, drove a quick Datsun 510 some 115 laps of the 1.88 km (1,17 mile) track, to score a two-lap victory over Vancouver's Mike Wevle, . North Shore residents fig- ured prominently in the results, as Doug Yip co-drove his Twyota MR2 to a solid fourth place finish, Adam and : From page 38 I jhould note that the speed “trap” is a misnomer. Not since die Dukes of Hazard have [ seen a police car hiding in the bushes wait- ing to snare a speeder. Anyone who cares to notice will see ~ayélice and their speed enforce- ment tools calmly standing at the side of the road or smack in the centre ofa pedestrian overpass. Guess what? This is inten- . tional: when drivers see police, drivers check their speed, which — to a police officer, anyway ~~ is the whole point. I once saw Sheriff Roscoe P. Coltrane catch them speed- ing Duke Boys with a hair dryer doubling as a radar gun. Silly, sure, but them Dukes sure slowed down. Method 4) Don’t be stu- pid. Why? It is stupidity thar kills. ~Sfapid to be speeding in heavy traffic, Stupid to be speeding where kids are known to play. Stupid to be speeding when you can’t han- dle your car at such a speed (you only figure this out by me acegehing). Stupid to be speed- ing when nobody else is (an obvious conflict of interest). Stupid to be speeding down a road where visibility 1s limited bur hazards are not — i.e. a nite quite side road. Stupid to be speeding during adverse weather/road conditions. Stupid to be speeding where police are known to set up shop.
