COHO Eestival orga- nizers are anticipating a large number of entries in next Sunday’s Coho Run. The 17th annual run, which attracted close to 500 participants last year, is one of a number of events that make up the Colo Festival, an annual celebration at Ambleside Park. The -run begins at Ainbleside and proceeds over a closed lane of the Lions Gate Bridge, through Stanley Park and then across the Burrard Bridge to finish up at Kitsilano Beach. In total, par- ticipants cover 14 kilometres (8.7 miles). The Coho Festival is the the North. Shore’s celebra- tion of the return of coho salmon “to local rivers and streams. Participants can pick up a form at The Running Room The cost is $2 for adults and $45 for children under 14, and includes an official T- shirt and the bus ride back to Ambleside Park from Kitsilano. You can also register at 7 am., the day of the run, bur the adult fee goes up to $30. The race starts at 8 a.m. For those who preter a more leisurely activity, the 8.5 km (5.3 mile) Coho Walk includes a bus trip up to the Cleveland Dam and a stroll down the Capilano River trail to Ambleside Park. The walks will take place between 10 a.m, and 2 p.m. Volunteers are also need- ed by Festival, organizers. Celebrating the Saimon NATIVE performers entertain the crowd during last year’s Coho Festival. The annual event, taking place next Sunday at Ambleside Park, features a day-long schedule of entertainment, food and displays dedicated to the mighty salmon.
