MISS SUNSHINE Girl for 1986 Jodie Cohan says she heard
about her win while vacationing in California.

The 22-year-old, who was raised
in North Vancouver, but who now
lives in Burnaby, says she got the
good word from her roommate
that she won the picture feature
contest in the North Shore News.

“First my mom called and told
me my picture was in the paper
again. Then my roommate called
to say I won. It was a nice sur-
prise,”’ she said.

Cohan’s most recent photo in
the newspaper was among a dozen
Miss Sunshine Girls selected for
the annual North Shore News
competition,

Their photos were run earlier
this summer, with readers being
asked to vote for their favorite.
Cohan, whose photo was taken in
November, 1985, was the readers’
choice.

She said she’s already purchased
a winter sweater with part of the
prize money, and plans to return
to buy ski wear.

Skiing is listed among her hob-
bies, Cohan also likes driving her
new '65 Mustang convertible, sun-
tanning, surfing and reading.

It was while she was in Califor-
nia for a week that she learned to
wind-surf.

Cohan works in Vancouver as a
B.C. Tel computer operator and
does occasional modelling assign-
ments. Right now she is busy put-
ting together a modelling portfolio
for herself.

She said she decided to become a
Sunshine Girl because it was a
feature of the newspaper that she
always noticed while reading the
News.
