AT LEAST 112 teachers have received

layoff

notices from Capilano College as a result of the
$1 million cut to the college’s operating budget.

Fourteen of the teachers
are full-time and the rest
temporary, often teaching at
the college for a semester at
atime.

Capilano faculty member
Walter Stewart says he sees
the layoffs as tragic — for

- the teachers losing their jobs

and for the lost expertise in
the classrcaims.

“It’s not a small number
of people,’ Stewart suid.
“It’s an incredible poo! of
