Police have so far re- corded a pair of robberies — one involving a weapon and the other threats o1 violence -— as robbers have picked up where they left of fin 1984, In one instance, police have arrested two 16-year- old North Vancouver youths | By MARK HAMILTO on charges of robbery, In the second, police are still seeking a suspect. The arrest of the two teenagers came after a Yellow Cab driver was Bx threatened and robbed of a small amount of cash in the 1900 block of Rufus Drive early Saturday morning. As the result of investiga- tion of the robbery, the two youths were apprehended in that area. No weapon wus involved in the robbery. A weapon wis produced in the second incident when a lone male used @ handgun during the robbery of a Dollarton Highway gas sta- tion. The single male, his features covered with a erey scarf, fled on foot after ob- taining the day's receipts. That robbery took place just before 6 p.m. Sunday. As well as the grey searf, the man was wearing a green toque and grey bomber jacket and slacks. Police have not arrested a suspect in thar case and investigation is continuing. The ovo incidents might seem to indicate that a trend toward more robberies is continuing, While year-end statistics for 1984 are not yet available, police say they expect those figures will suow that there has been an increase in the number of robberies involving weapons or actual or threatened vio- lence. During 1984 police were successful in solving several major robberies, including a late December bank robbery where an unidentified resi- dent of the North Shore nabbed one suspect and helped in the capture of his partner.
