Trustee Dorothy Lynas called the questions a ‘‘muck- raking document that did not belong on the table.’’ Trustee Verna Smelovsky told the meeting that the document had_been rejected — by other board chairmen in the province as ‘‘libelous.”’ Most trustees agreed that some of the questions con- tained in the document need- ed to be addressed, but they could not support the tone of the accompanying letter of the anonymous document. The trustees then decided that the questions should be asked at a Metro meeting of the BCSTA. The board also passed a motion that criticised critics of the BCSTA. ‘‘Whereas a number of vocal critics of the BCSTA, along with the threat to pull out of the organization, have called into question the necessity of the BCSTA’s very existence.... ‘‘Therefore be it resolved, that this convention go on record as affirming its sup- port and financial commit- ment to the BCSTA, as the only legitimate provincial or- ganization capable of repre- senting the collective interest of all public school boards in the province.”’ Balloon a friend! 219. any occassion greeting.
