(UPI) - Female oysters in the Chesapeake Bay can relax — a study shows there are enough male oysters to guarantee the shellfish happy and productive sex lives. Scientists thought female oysters greatly outnumbered males in the bay and were worried that reproduction of oysters might be inhibited. Samuel Kanyon Doe, who led the coup in which Liberian President William Tolbert was killed, says high officials of the former regime will be tried for “high treason” in a series of public show trials beginning Monday. Doe, 28, new president of the West African nation, said Sunday the trials will expose the “rampant corruption, misuse of public office and violation of human and civil rights” under Tolbert’s eight-year rule in the nation founded by freed American slaves. Some of the officials, who are now prisoners, face penalties as severe as death. Thousands of angry Liberians flocked to an army camp in downtown Monrovia Sunday to cheer as the prisoners were dragged out of a military stockade, stripped naked and told of the trials. But the capital was quict after a weekend of raucous and sometimes lawless celebration of Saturday's coup, the first in the country founded in 1822 by the former American slaves, whose descendants’ were identified with Tolbert as a privileged class.
