date preliminary housing Time
Series Data has been officially
launched by Canada Mortgage
and) Housing Corporation
(CMHC),

The Canadian Housing
Markets On-line Service
(CHMOS) is a new partner-
ship initiative between CMHC
and The Conference Board of
Canada, and will allow busi-
nesses and individuals to
obtain access to other CMHC
housing market information
and analysis.

“This joint initiative
responds to the needs of
CMHC clients who want to be
able co obtain housing market
data in electronic format as
suon as possible after it
becomes available,” noted
CMHC president Mare
Rochon. “It is an excellent
example of how government
and the private sector can work
together to better meet the
needs of Canadian businesses.”

In addition to the prelimi-
nary housing starts Time Series
Data, a number of CMHC
press releases amd reports will
be accessible on the service,

including the National
Housing Outlook, Mor1gage
Market ‘Trends and Canadian
Housing Markets. Housing
Time Series Data is informa-
don categorized and stored on
a historical basis by such cate-
vories as urban centre,
provinee, vear, month, quarter,
weaney rites and mortgage
rates. among others.
