‘concrete lions —- miniatures of the
pair that guard the approach to
.the south tower of the Lions Gate
; Bridge.
~~ This set, in the same dimensions
“as: the - maquette. sculpted by
‘Charies Marega in 1938, was do-
“nated ‘to the museum by Eileen
-Ainslie in memory of. her husband
John Ainslie.

which should be ready for circula- -
tion this month.

The sculptor, Charles Marega,
was born in Italy and settled in
Vancouver in 1909 where he lived
and worked for 30 years.

Other sculptures of his include
the statue of George Vancouver at
the Vancouver City Hall, and the
Joe Fortes Memorial fountain in
Alexandra Park on English Bay.
