NS MAN APPOINTED NORTH SHORE resident Robert B. Mackay has been appointed chairman of the 1993-94 board- elect of the American Marketing Association (AMA). Mackay is currently associate counsel with the established law firm of Russell and DuMoulin. He joined the AMA in 1960 as a stu- dent and became president of the B.C. chapter in 1977, From 1985 to 1987, he was on the international board of direc. tors as Canadian regional vice- president and served on the board as vice-president of the consumer marketing division from 1990-92. After receiving a bachelor of commerce from the University of B.C., Mackay completed an exec- utive advanced advertising course at the University of Montreal and obtained a bachelor of law degree fron: the University of Alberta. In his professional capacity, he practices exclusively in the areas of marketing, advertising and BUSINESS BRIEFS conipetition law. He is a member of the Cana- dian Bar Association, the Editori- al Advisory Board, Media ard Communications Law Review, National Executive Committee member, Media and Communica- tion Law section and an interna- tional associate member of the American Bar Association. “Mgr. Mackay ascended to the role of chairperson in many ways. **His strong involvement on the board of directors and AMA committees has given him the ad- ded insights to lead an association whose role in the business world is growing with the recognition that every business person is in some way a marketer,’ said Heilbrunn. AWARD WINNER MARIA CULLEN, president of the Petticoat Box, which operates four European-style lingerie boutiques, including one at Park Royal north in West Vancouver, has been presented with the 1992 Franchisor of the Year Doing It Right Award by the Pacific Fran- chise Association. Fhe award is in recognition of concept, design implementation and commitment and is sponsored by Acton Gunderson Chartered Accountants. Cullen came to Canada four years ago from Ireland with the Petticoat Box concept and aside from Park Royal, she has stores in the Eaton Centre at Metrotown, the Guildford Town Centre in Surrey and the Pine Centre in Prince George.
