But loose and careless or reckless skateboard- ers can create dangerous problems. Pedestrians report complaints like this: “I was walking down Lonsdale when all of a sudden 1 was hit from behind by a runaway skateboard. The loose board smashed into m ankles at quite a spéed. | feel bruised and angry that [ can’t walk down Lonsdale safely.” Or from a motorist’s perspective: “I was driving my car down a City street when all of a sudden a skateboarder darted in front of my car at lightning speed. } was startled by the speed and worried about the safety of the skatcboarder who weaved dangerously through busy traffic.” To deal with issues of safety for both pedestrian and motorists, all skateboarders need to note and follow City bylaws. The North Vancouver Family Court and Youth Justice Committee is looking for a broad spectrum of business and community minded individuals to serve as members on their committee for a one year term, starting sometime in January of 1993. Appointed members will serve as a link between the community and the justice system by being aware of the needs and resources of the community, as well as understanding and monitoring the legislation and administrative practices. . relating to the justice system within family court and youth . court. This committee makes recommendations to the courts, attorney general and other relevant parties to directly effect - the running of the justice system. Generally, some experience in one of the following areas is recommended: education, health, welfare, probation, policing, law and/or social work. A minimum of twelve hours a month - is required.
