Hitchhike heist NORTH VANCOUVER RCMP are warning drivers not to pick up hitchhikers: a man had his wallet stolen at knifepoint last month by a hitchhiker. A police spokesman said a lone male had been driving in bis vehicle at 7:20 p.m. on July 6 east alosig Marine Drive in North Vancouver when he picked up a male hitchhiker at the corner of Marine Drive and Bewicke Avenue. The victim then drove east along Third Street. When he approached Forbes Avenue, the hitchhiker produced a knife and demanded the driver’s wallet. After taking the man’s wailet, the hitckhiker got out of the vehicle and fled on foot. A description of the suspect was then broadcast to police in ihe area.
