Wrestling Eagies, Barons win tities CARSON GRAHAM Engles and Belmoral Barons, the only two North Shore schools with wrestling programs, both won overall team titles at the Simon Fraser Universi- ty invitational freestyle tourna- ments held Dec. 13-14. Coach Barry Callaghan’s Carson team scored 59 team points in the elite tournament to finish 15 points ahead of runner-up Abbotsford, while Balmoral, under coach Tan McBonslé, edged Mary Hill of Coquitlam 67.8 to 64.1 in the novice tournament. Some 285 wrestlers from all over the province took part in the elite competition. A further 736 entered the novice tourney. Leading Carson Graham with elite firsts were Jeff Chalmers in the 63 kilograms weight class, Giulio Decotiis in 70 kg and Rosanno Decotiis in 78 kg. Charlie Bruce placed second in 60 kg. For Balmoral, novice winners were Lach Fergusson and Maziar Mozaffari in junior 54 and 57 kg and Brent Swatridge and John Forbes ix bantam 60 and 70 kg respectively. Seconds came from juniors Riley Johnson (48 kg), George Tomogane (54 kg) and Ryan Edgar (57 kg), and bantam Travis Demeyer (63kg). Stewart McCalien of Carson Graham picked up 2 se- cond in the junior 66 kg. event.
