Dear Editor:

Thank you for printing
Bob Hunter's article “Out of
the Ashes”, in the April 17
Sunday edition. It did my
heart good to read about
“Jack and Alice”, and the
wonderful renewal that
happened in their family.
Mr. Hunter was mght to
encourage us to “Look and
wait” for the silver lining.

I was inspired by Jack and
Alice’s story because the

real “silver” in Jack’s dark
cloud was the responsible
action he had taken to see
that his insurance’ was
“adequate and in = order”.
Had Jack and Alice failed in
their insurance planning, the
story could have taken a
nasty turn, and they could
have found themselves
waiting for their silver lining

. for a very long time indeed.

AS you may recall, the
weekend of April 16-17 was
bright and sunny. Just the
weather for working in one’s
garden.

Unfortunately, over most

refuse on a neighbour by
dumping it in the middle of
the neighbour’s lawn. Why
should we allow the resident
to inflict it in the form of
smoke on not just one
neighbour but a whole
neighbourhood?

From the bmdge on this

medieval encampment, with
smoke rising ever ywhere.
Surely we can be more
civilized than this. Ban the
barbaric and = unhealthy
practice of backyard bur-
ning.
