At this time the blue herons are nesting under- neath the ferry dock and in the trees surrounding the ferry dock. The Bowen Island dock is about 15 years old. The dock has begun to rot. If the ferry dock closes now, the people of Bowen Island will have to take the water taxi to Horseshoe Bay. ’ The Bowen Island teach- ers who live on the mainland will have to travel on the water taxi to get to school, at the school board’s expense. If the people of Bowen Island have to travel on the water taxi, they won’t have vehicles to get around on the mainland. “There will be a complete . dock shut down for two days. Over a period of three to five days, there will be a six - hour. shut-down in the mid- dle of each day: There will L, also be a weekend of total ™ dock closure and five periods lasting between three and five days when work will be in progress.
